Douglas E. Brooks
Chief Executive Officer and President
Douglas E. Brooks serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of EGC as of April 17, 2017. Mr. Brooks brings over 34 years of experience as a Senior Oil & Gas Executive, having most recently served as Chief Executive Officer for Yates Petroleum Corporation, a privately owned exploration and production company focused on the Delaware and Powder River basins, from April 2015 until Yates' merger with EOG Resources, Inc. in October 2016. Mr. Brooks served as Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Oil & Gas Limited from October 2012 until June 2014, and as a Senior Vice President at Forest Oil Corporation from April 2012 until October 2012. In addition, he spent 24 years with Marathon Oil Company in roles of increasing responsibility, lastly as the Director of Upstream Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Development for the Americas. Mr. Brooks has also built two private equity-sponsored firms focused on unconventional resource projects in the western U.S. Mr. Brooks currently serves on the board of directors of Chaparral Energy, Inc. and has served as a board member for Aurora Oil & Gas Limited, Magdalena Energy Company, Yates Petroleum and the Houston Producers' Forum. Furthermore, he is currently an advisor for Hart Energy's A&D Watch, a global energy research publication. Mr. Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Wyoming - Casper and a Masters of Business Administration, Finance from Our Lady of the Lake University in Texas.
Chief Operating Officer
Scott M. Heck is Chief Operating Officer for Energy XXI Gulf Coast, Inc. and joined EGC in February of 2017. Scott has worked in E&P for over 37 years and recently served as Chief Operating Officer for Bennu Oil & Gas, LLC overseeing all exploration and production operations reporting to Bennu’s chief executive officer. Mr. Heck retired from Hess Corporation in early 2014 where he was Senior Vice President of Global Offshore Production & Global Exploration. In this capacity, he was responsible for the operations and development of assets producing in excess of 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/D) from eight countries around the world, including a prominent position in the Gulf of Mexico. His responsibilities also included leading the organization responsible for capturing, maturing and discovering conventional exploration opportunities in the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa/South America Conjugate Margin, and Malaysia.
Prior to his most recent Hess role, Mr. Heck served as Senior Vice President of Exploration & Production Technology, which he established, then subsequently led, to provide support to solve critical technical challenges faced by the company’s global E&P business; this role was also responsible for the company’s global reserves group and included assuring compliance with SEC rules and SPE PRMS guidelines. Earlier in his tenure at Hess, Scott served in a variety of technical and leadership roles, including Manager - GOM Offshore Engineering, Manager - GOM Offshore Production & Development, Vice President – West Africa Production and Senior Vice President - Americas & West Africa Production. He began his career with Tenneco Oil in Bakersfield, California in 1980 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College.
Tiffany "TJ" Thom Cepak
Chief Financial Officer
Tiffany "TJ" Thom Cepak serves as Chief Financial Officer for Energy XXI Gulf Coast, Inc. as of September 2017. Ms. Thom has more than 20 years of financial and operational experience in the energy industry, primarily offshore Gulf of Mexico operations. Most recently, Ms. Thom served as the Chief Financial Officer of KLR Energy Acquisition Corp. from January 2015 until April 2017, when it was combined with Tema Oil and Gas Company to form Rosehill Resources Inc. Ms. Thom served in positions of increasing responsibility for EPL Oil & Gas, Inc. (EPL) from October 2000 until its acquisition in June 2014 by Energy XXI Gulf Coast, Inc.'s predecessor, Energy XXI Ltd. Ms. Thom held the most senior financial position at EPL from July 2009 until the acquisition, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer when EPL was acquired. From 1992 to 2000, Ms. Thom served as Senior Reservoir Engineer for Exxon Production Company and ExxonMobil Company with operational roles, including reservoir engineering and subsurface completion engineering for numerous offshore Gulf of Mexico properties. Ms. Thom has served as a director of Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. since August 2014. From October 2015 to October 2016, Ms. Thom served as a director of Yates Petroleum Corporation, a privately owned, independent oil and gas exploration and production company. Ms. Thom holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration in Management with a concentration in Finance from Tulane University.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Marguerite Woung-Chapman serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for EGC as of February 2018. Ms. Woung-Chapman previously served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of EP Energy Corporation from August 2013 to November 2017 and Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of EP Energy LLC from May 2012 to November 2017. Prior to serving in those roles, Ms. Woung-Chapman served as Vice President, Legal Shared Services, Corporate Secretary and Chief Governance Officer of El Paso Corporation from November 2009 to May 2012. Ms. Woung-Chapman was Vice President, Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary at El Paso Corporation from May 2007 to November 2009 and from May 2006 to May 2007 served as General Counsel and Vice President of Rates and Regulatory Affairs for El Paso Corporation's Eastern Pipeline Group. She served as General Counsel of El Paso Corporation's Eastern Pipeline Group from April 2004 to May 2006. Ms. Woung-Chapman served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel of El Paso Merchant Energy from July 2003 to April 2004. Prior to that time, she held various legal positions with El Paso Corporation and Tenneco Energy starting in 1991. Ms. Woung-Chapman is currently Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council. Ms. Woung-Chapman holds a Bachelors of Science in in Linguistics Georgetown University and J.D. Georgetown University Law Center.
